The Science behind the Power of Synergy

A University of Tampa study was conducted on the effects of the combination of BetaTOR (HMB free acid) and PEAK ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) (Lowery et al., 2016).  The scientists showed that supplementation with BetaATP resulted in significant increases in lean body mass, power, and strength when compared with placebo supplementation. 

During the 12-week study 3 training phases were implemented: 8 weeks of daily undulating periodized resistance training, 2 weeks of overreaching, and 2 weeks of tapering.  The results showed a significant synergistic effect of BetaATP supplementation on the participants’ power performance.

BetaATP Increases Vertical Jump Power

Explosive power carries over into facets of every sport.  During the 12-week training study participants that supplemented with BetaATP increased the gain in Vertical Jump power by 71% compared with the placebo-supplemented participants.

A retrospective analysis reported in the study showed the increase in Vertical Jump power with BetaATP was synergistic in that the increase was greater than expected based upon the supplementation of either BetaTOR or PEAK ATP alone!

The study also used the Wingate Peak Power test to measure anaerobic power and capacity.  Supplementation with BetaATP resulted in a 104% greater gain in Wingate Peak Power over the placebo-supplemented participants.  This proves once again that the effect of BetaATP is greater than the use of either BetaTOR or PEAK ATP alone.
